As the season of festivities approaches, many people from the Eastern region will be traveling to their villages fo the holidays.

The roads in East Nigeria have been a major source of complaints from the public.

From bad roads to the numerous bribe demanding, time delaying officers at checkpoints and illegal roadblocks.

Official status of Enugu Roads

THE CURRENT STATUS OF ENUGU ROADS

As sourced from official records in the Ministry of Works and Ministry of Information, the Enugu Government has claimed over 102 projects done within the past 4 years with 64 completed and 38 On-going.

This report shall be regularly updated as information comes for we welcome verifiable photos and eye witness reports on their current status.

In the scheme of things, 102 road projects remain a drop in the bucket.

From our perusal of the current government, there seems to be the construction of new roads focused in the villages and rural communities while cities and towns undergo numerous rehabilitations.

An expensive side effect from the contracts and road works awarded by past governments?

There remains so much more work yet to be done. Enugu has a diverse informal network of roads that link communities. They need to be upgraded and standardized.

The masses and the majority of lower socio-economic classes use roads for transportation. Even the airport is still shut down to the elite who also use roads to transverse within the state.

Coming home should not be a nightmare.
